The Bees
Bee Potion is a local & ethical business based in Hastings; set up by Katharine Slater who keeps her bees close, with two hives in the garden next to her studio & several more on Hastings Firehillls (an area of outstanding natural beauty). The woodland apiary on the Firehills is also managed by Leigh Dyer, a local metal work artist.

The Honey
Katharine & Leigh love their bees' and purposely collect only small amounts of honey (ensuring the bees have enough supplies to maintain colony health). The honey they take is as pure as can be as they do not feed sugar to their colonies to get bigger harvests. The honey is medicinal as well as delicious as it is not heat treated (which destroys it's health properties) & the pollen remains, which is an excellent remedy for local hay-fever sufferers. Fortunately for Katharine’s bees there is no agricultural farming crops in the 3 mile radius from which bees forage. This means the nectar and the health of the bees is excellent as is the honey they produce.

The Beekeeper
Katharine's fascination with bees developed after receiving the 'Bee Bible' as a gift and inspired by what she was reading, Katharine immersed herself into the world of bees. It was a natural progression to combine this fascination with her other passions: therapeutic nature work, natural cosmetics & working with young people.
A beauty parlour in the woods with (troubled) teenage girls, making products from beautiful, raw, natural ingredients led to the development of 'Bee Pure', which 8 years later has become an essential beauty staple for all who have tried it.

The Potions
With a little alchemy, a lot of intuition and a wonderful mix of amazing, natural, organic ingredients, the product range is growing in Katharine's garden studio. Each available product addresses specific areas in need of love, for example: Cracked heels - Bee Healed, dried out skin Bee Pure, Bee Soothed – for problem skin, Bee Cleansed - a wonderful anti-aging face mask.

The secret is all in the carefully crafted combination of a range of nourishing, healing, bee ingredients: raw honey, beeswax, bee-pollen & propolis, all of which carry a historical legacy for natural health & beauty.

Vitamin rich oils are also mixed into the potions & include: avocado, jojoba, macadamia, apricot kernel, rose-hip, coconut, hypericum, arnica, and shea butter.

Alongside the development and making of the Bee Potion products, Katharine also shares the alchemic experience through workshops for small groups to mix your own 'honey pot of wonder, learn how to give a reflexology facial & connect with other wonderful queen bees & gentle folk.

The Beecause

We offer a wide variety of workshops and work with the local educational organisation , "Egg Tooth'. This organisation supports vulnerable chldren in Hastings. Bee Potion runs holistic nature courses linked to bees, creativity, personal development and making lovely products.
